Forest fire spread from Yen Thanh to Do Luong, thousands of people put out the fire
(Baonghean.vn) - At noon on June 21, a fire spread from a pine hill in Cong Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district to Do Luong district. Thousands of people were mobilized to put out the fire.

At around 12 noon on June 21, when a fire broke out in a pine forest in the resin-exploiting stage in Cong Thanh commune, people living around the area immediately reported it to the authorities for rescue.
The leaders of Yen Thanh district were present and directed the forces to coordinate to control the fire. However, due to the hot weather, high temperature, steep hills, combined with strong southerly winds that frequently changed direction, the fire spread more and more.

To promptly deal with the fire, Yen Thanh district coordinated to mobilize more than 1,200 officers and soldiers from the following units: Provincial Forest Protection Department, Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Force No. 5, Yen Thanh District Forest Protection Department, District Military Command, District Police and militia and self-defense forces of 12 surrounding communes along with hundreds of people to participate in firefighting... cutting and clearing the runway to prevent the fire from spreading to people's houses.
The fire from Cong Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district spread to Dong Ho pine forest in Khe Nu mountain, hamlet 4, Thuong Son commune, Do Luong district. Here, the fire spread for 2-3 km. Thuong Son commune authorities mobilized forces from 14 hamlets in the commune, coordinating with forces from neighboring communes to participate in fire fighting.

Due to the strong sun and wind, the fire spread quickly, lack of firefighting equipment, and the inability to bring water up the hill, making it extremely difficult to put out the fire. People used tree branches to put out the fire, raked dry leaves, and made firebreaks...

Due to the potential for the fire to spread and become serious, military assistance was provided in the afternoon.
By 8:00 p.m. the same day, the fire in Yen Thanh had been basically contained. In Do Luong district, the fire was spreading. Do Luong district leaders were present at the scene, mobilizing people from communes surrounding the fire area, local military forces and calling for the cooperation of officers and soldiers of Division 324 to control the fire and minimize the damage caused by the fire.
With the efforts of nearly 1,200 people actively participating in fire fighting, as of 10:15 p.m. on June 21, the forest fires in Do Luong district were basically under control. The district also assigned 14 hamlets of Thuong Son commune, each hamlet with 7 people, to keep an eye out for re-flare-ups./.
