“Investors should not worry, the recent turmoil is only temporary”
That is the sharing of Mr. Nguyen Tai Phuong, Vietnamese American, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Member of the Advisory Council for Foreign Affairs and Overseas Vietnamese, Vice President of the Hai Phong Association of Overseas Vietnamese Liaison.
The bad guys took advantage of people's patriotism.
Mr. Nguyen Tai Phuong, Vietnamese American, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Member of the Foreign Affairs and Overseas Vietnamese Advisory Council, Vice President of the Hai Phong Overseas Vietnamese Liaison Association. Mr. Phuong has invested in Vietnam for many years and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of the North American Company.
Mr. Nguyen Tai Phuong said that in the past few days, he has been following the case.gathering crowds, inciting disturbances in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Thuan and some localities. According to Mr. Phuong, the main cause of the gatherings is that people do not fully understand the core and policies of the Party and State on economic development, including the Draft Law on Special Economic Zones. Therefore, bad elements and hostile forces take advantage of this to incite, thereby taking inappropriate actions, causing disturbances, and destroying State property.

Mr. Phuong said that in the US, the principle is that if you want to organize a demonstration, you must ask permission from the local government. People have the right to march and demonstrate in public places. To organize such a demonstration, you must also ask for permission a certain amount of time in advance.
Along with that, the law also stipulates that permission must be requested for demonstrations with what purpose, what scale, what location, what time... Banners and slogans must also be within the prescribed content criteria. During the demonstration, people can freely express their opinions and freedom of speech, but must ensure peace, without any acts of inciting disorder or sabotage.
"Therefore, actions that happened recently, such as destroying headquarters and burning vehicles of government agencies, are illegal actions," said Mr. Phuong.
Mr. Nguyen Tai Phuong said that in these unfortunate incidents, overseas Vietnamese had less information than those in the country, so there were also misunderstandings. Many people did not understand the incident correctly when they went to unofficial websites or the mouthpieces of hostile forces, distorting information and images about these incidents, creating suspicion and division between the country and abroad. Because of accessing unofficial and fabricated information sources, some people expressed doubts about the political and social stability in the country. Some people called their relatives in the country to ask about why this happened and hoped that the incident would be resolved soon.
Investors should not worry, the recent incident is only temporary.
The fact that anti-government elements took advantage of the incident where workers from some companies in Ho Chi Minh City took to the streets to protest for higher wages and reduced working hours to infiltrate, causing traffic jams and disrupting social order; the gathering to incite and cause disorder, with many people storming the provincial People's Committee, the headquarters of the fire prevention and fighting agency, and burning fire trucks in Binh Thuan and some other localities has also made many foreign investors and companies doing business in Vietnam worried. Some companies had to hang up the slogan "We are Korean companies, we support the Vietnamese people" to hope that the extremist crowd would not enter their companies to cause trouble as had happened before.

As a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, member of the Advisory Council for Foreign Affairs and Overseas Vietnamese, Vice President of the Hai Phong Overseas Vietnamese Liaison Association, Mr. Phuong said that when he has the opportunity to meet overseas Vietnamese, he always tries to explain so that they can understand the true nature of events as well as the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, including the contents that many people do not understand correctly.
“I think the root of the problem is also a lack of understanding, a lack of understanding of the matter. I have had the opportunity to meet people, including in groups of friends, in coffee shops, even in taxis, many people do not understand me, so I talk to them to help them better understand the regulations in the Special Economic Zone Law Project, what are the time limits, what is a special economic zone… When people invest in Vietnam, they must comply with Vietnamese laws, we also have many other binding laws such as the Land Law, Immigration Law, Nationality Law, Immigration Law… so people do not have to worry about losing their land.”
According to Mr. Phuong, in the recent meeting with voters, the General Secretary also emphasized that the issue of special economic zones is not only related to which country enters, the land issue but must promote all the advantages of the country. This issue must be strictly and maturely resolved, not people rushing in to occupy our land. Therefore, people can rest assured and understand the policies of the Party and State.
Paying attention to socio-economic development as well as developments in the country is the legitimate desire of people at home and abroad. Therefore, Mr. Phuong believes that the most important thing to limit, or even prevent, unfortunate incidents like the recent one in Binh Thuan and some other localities is still propaganda work.
“In my opinion, the propaganda work before the recent incident was not good. The authorities and propaganda agencies, including the press, should have a direction for public opinion. Before issuing policies that affect the whole society, they must widely propagate so that people can understand clearly. For important and widely influential Law projects, in addition to consulting experts and scientists, they should also consult people from all walks of life. People always want the best for the country. That is also the core issue. When people are clear and have expressed their contributions and opinions, it will be difficult for hostile forces to take advantage of them to sabotage them,” Mr. Phuong shared./.
