Promoting high-tech agricultural development along the Ho Chi Minh road corridor

The Ho Chi Minh Highway runs through 6 provinces in the North Central region, creating a large production area along the corridor, including 24 districts and towns with an area of ​​2,092,078 hectares.

The conference listened to the opinions of experts and scientists, and shared experiences of local leaders and business representatives on developing industrialized agriculture along the Ho Chi Minh Road corridor.

In particular, according to the opinions of delegates, to develop agriculture along the Ho Chi Minh road corridor, it is necessary to first do a good job of planning socio-economic development along the Ho Chi Minh road corridor. In addition, it is necessary to have a policy mechanism to attract businesses to invest in developing high-tech agriculture. At the same time, it is necessary to determine the responsibility of local authorities, creating a consensus link between authorities - people - businesses to develop high-tech agriculture.

Provincial leaders suggested that it is necessary to create links between provinces along the Ho Chi Minh road corridor. The Ministry of Science and Technology should coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to establish a socio-economic development program and have specific policies for localities along the Ho Chi Minh road corridor.

Speaking at the Conference, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh said: Nghe An is restructuring the agricultural sector in the spirit of Central Resolution 5, in which the land and climate of the Western region of the Ho Chi Minh Road corridor have conditions to apply scientific and technological advances to create new production opportunities.

Ho Chi Minh Road through Nghe An province is 132 km long, passing through the potential midland region of the province with 3,210.6284 km²The natural area belongs to 5 districts and towns with 119 communes and towns, accounting for 19.47% of the total area of ​​the province. This is a midland area with low mountainous terrain, including basalt red soil, suitable for large-scale agricultural development according to value chains.

“Recently, the province has had many policies to develop agriculture along the Ho Chi Minh Road corridor and the western part of the province, attracting the formation of large-scale farming, livestock and forestry enterprises connecting the value chain with processing,” affirmed Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh.

The Provincial Party Secretary said the province is reviewing land funds and planning, prioritizing attracting businesses to invest in agriculture and develop industrial trade.

Concluding the Conference, Minister Chu Ngoc Anh assessed,Science and technology have contributed to promoting production; applying many new varieties and advanced farming techniques, promoting mechanization, contributing to improving the productivity and quality of agricultural products of some major crops in the region.

There have been a number of enterprises investing in building high-tech agricultural models such as the passion fruit development model of NAFOODS Joint Stock Company, TH Group in Nghe An, the high-tech application model in sugarcane, vegetable, fruit, and flower production of Lam Son Sugarcane Joint Stock Company in Thanh Hoa with investment in production according to the value chain, creating the premise for the application of high technology in agricultural production.

However, according to the head of the science and technology sector, the level of agricultural commodity production is not high, the quality of agricultural products is not uniform, greatly affecting the ability to compete and find consumption markets, production efficiency and income of farmers in some places are still low.

The Minister emphasized the need for creativity, hard work and dedication from the people and businesses. Therefore, to develop industrialized agriculture along the Ho Chi Minh Road corridor, there needs to be a close connection between the government - businesses - people.
