Tan Ky earns 1.8 billion VND from biomass corn growing model

(Baonghean.vn) - In the spring-summer crop of 2018, Tan Ky district implemented 2 models of joint production of biomass corn cultivation with an area of ​​50 hectares. After nearly 3 months of care, farmers earned 1.8 billion VND.

Participating in the local biomass corn planting, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung's family in Cua Den hamlet, Nghia Dung commune (Tan Ky) dedicated 0.7 hectares to planting biomass corn.

Mr. Dung said: After 75 days of care, the family harvested nearly 30 tons of corn, sold it to a purchasing company for 800,000 VND/ton, earning nearly 24 million VND. Implementing the model, the government supported 55% of the seed price and 40% of the fertilizer, so the family made more profit than before when growing corn for grain.

Mr. Tran Van Luyen - agricultural officer in charge of Nghia Dung commune said: In the last spring-summer crop, the locality implemented a model of growing biomass corn according to a chain, providing feed for cattle farms. Before implementing the model, there were businesses that contracted to purchase products for the people.

Planted with a new corn variety, high plant density, strong growth, the yield reached 44 tons/ha. The local model was implemented on an area of ​​30 hectares, the output reached 1,300 tons, sold at 800,000 VND/ton, earning more than 1 billion VND. Meanwhile, the total cost for the model was more than 480 million VND, the people still made a profit of more than 500 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh - Head of the Plant Protection Station of Tan Ky district said: In the spring-summer crop, the unit was assigned by the district People's Committee to implement 2 models of biomass corn production linkage with a scale of 50 hectares in Nghia Dung and Nghia Binh communes.

Before implementing the model, cattle breeding units signed contracts to purchase products. The yield of biomass corn in the whole district reached 42 - 45 tons/ha, the output reached about 2,200 tons. According to the contract, people sold corn at 800,000 VND/ton, earning nearly 1.8 billion VND, after deducting costs, the profit was nearly 1 billion VND.
