Rare story of a teacher coming to a student's house before the exam papers were distributed

Accordingly, at 10 minutes to 7:00 a.m. on June 25, at the Nguyen Canh Chan High School exam site, the candidates had entered the exam room, but Nguyen Thi Hoa, a student of class 12A6, Nguyen Canh Chan High School, had not yet arrived.

The invigilator called out the candidate’s name over and over again but Hoa still did not enter the exam room. After failing to contact her family, her classmates did not know the reason for Hoa’s absence; time was of the essence, so the teachers at the school had a short conversation and teacher Tran Thi Kim Oanh took on the “mission” of going to the student’s house to find her.

“I knew Hoa’s family and understood her well, so I decided to come and find her. Hoa comes from a poor family, and the school had organized visits to encourage her, so I didn’t directly teach Hoa, but I and many teachers in the school knew her quite well,” Ms. Oanh shared.

From the Nguyen Canh Chan High School exam site to the house of candidate Nguyen Thi Hoa, residing in Hamlet 9, Thanh Thinh Commune, is about 5 km, while the time to distribute the exam papers was near, so Ms. Oanh immediately took her motorbike and left. On the way, when she was about to reach Hoa's house, she saw Hoa pedaling her bike to school. When the two of them passed each other, Ms. Oanh discovered the student she was looking for.

“Hoa said she had mixed up the time to enter the exam room and the time to distribute the exam papers, so she was late for the exam. It was urgent, so I told Hoa to park her car at a house near the road, then get on her motorbike so I could take her to school so she could take the exam on time... The two of us ran straight back to school,” Ms. Oanh recounted.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan - Vice Principal of Nguyen Canh Chan High School and also the Vice Head of the Examination Site said that after Ms. Oanh drove out of the gate, all the teachers in the school looked at their watches anxiously waiting for news. At 7:20, close to the time to distribute the exam papers, they saw the two teachers and students driving into the school gate, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing the small figure of Hoa walking quickly in the school yard, some teachers present had tears in their eyes.

Thanks to the teacher's "exam season support", a female candidate who "got the wrong time" was able to arrive on time to take the Literature exam, becoming a touching story at the Nguyen Canh Chan High School exam site and in "Nhut land".

This rare story was shared by Mr. Thuan on his personal page as a message to candidates taking the 2018 National High School Exam: "... Candidates must remember the time carefully to arrive on time, don't make everyone worry... Remember to check your roommates, if anyone is missing, remember to notify the teachers early to handle it in time."
