On June 29, Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Tran Van Sang and Tran Quoc Doan residing in Tien Ky commune and Dinh Trong Tuan, Pham Viet Hoa, and Cao Thanh Tra residing in Dong Van commune for gambling.
According to the indictment, at about 8:30 p.m. on February 11, 2018, To Ba Quang (residing in Dong Van commune), along with Sang, Tuan, and Doan, went to To Ba Hai's house in Tan Dong hamlet, Dong Van commune to visit Mrs. Pham Thi Nuoi, also known as Mrs. Sy (Mr. Hai's mother), who was sick.
Then the four of them went down to the kitchen to warm up. While they were hanging out, Quang invited the other three to gamble by playing dice with bets of 50,000 VND per game.up to 100,000 VND,All three agreed.

Then, Quang took a bowl, a plate and cut 4 dice from a deck of cards and all four of them sat in the kitchen of Hai's house and started gambling. Sang was the dealer. A while later, Hoa and Tra came and joined in the gambling.
At about 11:20 p.m. the same day, while the subjects were gambling, they were caught red-handed by Nghe An Provincial Police, who seized 34,300,000 VND.along with the exhibits. Taking advantage of the loophole, Quang fled the scene.
On February 26, 2018, Tran Van Sang, Tran Quoc Doan, and Dinh Trong Tuan went to Nghe An Provincial Police to surrender, while To Ba Quang fled the area. On March 26, 2018, Tan Ky District Police Department issued wanted notice No. 03 for To Ba Quang but has not yet arrested him.
The investigation proved that the subjects used 14.3 million VND for gambling, of which Hoa used the most amount of 10,000,000 VND and Doan used the least amount of 350 thousand VND.to gamble.
Previously, Hoa was sentenced to 24 months in prison by the People's Court of Con Cuong district, Nghe An province for "Illegal possession of narcotics". Completed his sentence on January 25, 2017 (his criminal record has not yet been cleared). On February 23, 2017, he was administratively fined by Tan Ky district police for the act of Intentional infliction of injury. His criminal record has not yet been cleared. On April 22, 2016, he was administratively fined by Tan Ky district police for the act of Gambling. He paid the fine on July 19, 2016.
Doan was also administratively punished by Tan Ky District Police for Gambling; Tuan was administratively punished by Tan Ky District Police for Intentional Infliction of Injury. His criminal record has not yet been cleared.
In this case, To Ba Quang was the one who gambled with the above defendants but is currently on the run and has not been arrested. Therefore, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police has separated To Ba Quang's gambling behavior and will handle it later when he is arrested.
As for the homeowners, To Ba Hai and Nguyen Thi Hang, when the subjects were gambling at the location owned by this couple, To Ba Hai was not at home and Nguyen Thi Hang was at home taking care of Mrs. Pham Thi Nuoi (mother-in-law), so she did not know the subjects were gambling at her house, so there was no basis for handling.
At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Hoa, Sang, and Tuan each to 6 months in prison; Doan to 6 months in prison with a suspended sentence, and Tra to 9 months of non-custodial reform.
