The United States announced the successful test of the B-61-12 guided nuclear bomb.

During the testing, B-2 Spirit strategic bombers were used.
"This flight test demonstrates that the B61-12 design meets system requirements and represents further progress on the B61-12 service life extension program in line with national security requirements," said Michael Lutton, an officer with the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration.

The test of the experimental assembly of the device was held on June 9 at the military test site in Nevada under the command of the 419th Test Squadron of Edwards Air Force Base.
The US plans to deploy B61-12s at military bases in Europe - Germany, Italy, Türkiye, Belgium and the Netherlands.
