Mr. Tran Anh Tan - Chairman of Hung Dong Commune People's Committee has requested the commune's functional forces to inspect the scene and continue to send people to monitor and promptly handle any fire that may flare up again. "We continue to request Vinh City People's Committee to have a plan to completely relocate this landfill to ensure the environment and landscape of the city" - Mr. Tan emphasized.
On the side of Vinh City People's Committee, Mr. Le Sy Chien - Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee said that the project to relocate Hung Dong landfill is currently available, however, because the landfill at Nghi Yen waste treatment area has not been completed, the waste cannot be moved immediately.
Hung Dong landfill has an area of about 11 hectares and has been closed for many years, although there are still hundreds of thousands of tons of old waste that need to be treated soon to ensure environmental sanitation.
