U19 Vietnam won big against U19 Philippines and rose to the top of the table.
Not using the strongest lineup, U19 Vietnam still had a big win with a score of 5-0 against U19 Philippines in the second match of the group stage, the final round of U19 Southeast Asia 2018.
After a very unfortunate draw against U19 Thailand, U19 Vietnam entered the match against U19 Philippines with high determination. In this match, coach Hoang Anh Tuan made 8 substitutions. The captain from Khanh Hoa gave the reserve players a chance to show their ability, as the opponent U19 Philippines was not highly rated.

In the first minutes, the game belonged to U19 Vietnam. U19 Philippines played tight defense and cleared the ball when in danger.
In the 21st minute, U19 Philippines counter-attacked quickly, Van Nam was forced to commit a foul in the penalty area and received a yellow card. Goalkeeper Ye Li Nie then did an excellent job of saving the opponent's penalty kick.

Immediately after this situation, striker Le Van Nam had an accurate header that forced the opposing goalkeeper to go into the net to pick up the ball. The goal helped U19 Vietnam relieve their psychological stress. Therefore, right at the beginning of the second half, U19 Vietnam had a goal to double the gap. Xuan Tu passed the ball conveniently to Le Van Nam to complete the double.
In the 59th minute, from a cross from his teammate, Minh Binh of HA Gia Lai easily increased the gap by scoring from close range. In the 66th minute, it was Hong Son's turn to raise the score to 4-0 for U19 Vietnam.

U19 Philippines was broken, so it was not surprising that U19 Vietnam scored another goal in the 81st minute, with Duy Kien scoring, sealing a 5-0 victory.
With this big win, U19 Vietnam rose to first place in Group A.
