Murder in gambling, sentenced to 15 years in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - Just because of small conflicts in gambling, Phan Cong Hoai (from Yen Thanh, Nghe An) and Nguyen Van Cuong got into a fight with each other, causing one to die and the other to go to jail.
On the morning of July 9, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened the first instance criminal trial of defendant Phan Cong Hoai (born 1982, hometown Bac Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district). Phan Cong Hoai was prosecuted for "murder".

According to the indictment, Phan Cong Hoai and Nguyen Van Cuong were both workers of Construction Team 2, Song Da Branch 605, Song Da Company 6, located in Dong Van commune, Que Phong district and lived in the Team's dormitory.
At around 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2018, a wedding announcement ceremony was held in the kitchen of the apartment complex. After getting drunk, Hoai, Cuong and a number of other workers sat on the mats gambling by shaking the dice.
In the gamble, Hoai wanted to bet 20,000 VND but because he didn't have any change, he bet a 200,000 VND bill and said he would only bet 20,000 VND. Cuong won the gamble and took the 200,000 VND bill. Because of that, Hoai and Cuong got into a fight. Hoai took a knife from under the bed and stabbed Cuong, causing Cuong to die immediately.
After the incident, Phan Cong Hoai surrendered to the Que Phong district police. The defendant Hoai's family compensated 100 million VND to the victim's legal representative, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang - the victim's wife. Mrs. Hang also did not request any further civil compensation and filed a petition to reduce the sentence for Phan Cong Hoai.
At court, defendant Phan Cong Hoai confessed and admitted all his crimes. Considering mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced defendant Phan Cong Hoai to 15 years in prison for "murder".
