During more than 10 years of service at the Guard Department, he was honored to be a soldier protecting Uncle Ho and had many touching memories of him. In March 1966, he was transferred to a new unit and retired in 1990 with the rank of Colonel.
Living in his hometown, he still maintains the simple style and lifestyle of a police officer. In the small house of the couple in the countryside, there are still solemnly hung pictures of him with Uncle Ho and his comrades at the Presidential Palace as the most precious assets.
