On the Prime Minister's office's Twitter, the Queen was delighted to approve the politician for the position.
In this position, Jeremy Hunt will replace Boris Johnson, who resigned over disagreements with Prime Minister Theresa May over future trade and customs relations with the EU.
In a letter to the prime minister, Mr Johnson said the "country is becoming a colony" and the "dream of Brexit is dead".
He noted that his argument had little support. In his opinion, the proposals, which the government had agreed to, would in fact mean compliance with EU law.
“In this view, we are effectively moving towards a colonial state and many people will find it difficult to see the economic and political advantages of such arrangements,” the former foreign minister noted.
Last Friday (6 July), Mrs May announced her intention to soften the terms of Britain's withdrawal from the European Union. The Prime Minister said the UK would propose to Brussels to create a free trade area and to designate a list of industrial goods and agricultural products that would not be subject to future restrictions.
