Nghe An: Launching pilot model garden for new rural areas
(Baonghean.vn) - On June 27, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 410 on the implementation of building new rural model gardens in the province, period 2018 - 2020. Up to now, 2 new rural model gardens in Nghe An province have been launched in Trung Son commune, Do Luong district.

Mr. Dang Dinh Son's family in Hamlet 1, Trung Son Commune (Do Luong) is one of 25 families selected by the commune to pilot the new rural model garden.Mr. Son said that his family was very excited to be chosen by the commune to build a model NTM garden. His family's garden plot is 2,000 m2 wide.2, before around the fence was a dense bamboo bank, in the garden planted some fruit trees just enough to serve the family.
Before building the model NTM garden, with the support of the commune in cutting and scooping up all the bamboo banks, Mr. Son invested nearly 50 million VND to build an 80 cm high surrounding wall, with a B40 steel fin above 2 m high; the commune also supported some fruit tree varieties to plant in the garden.

After renovating the garden, with the advice of the village and commune officials, Mr. Son planned the garden into suitable planting areas; currently, nearly 60 fruit trees of various types have been planted: oranges, Dien grapefruit, star apples, lemons. In the future, he will plant more short-term vegetables, choose some multi-purpose climbing plants (squash, gourd, jasmine...) around the fence, to create a green fence.
Mr. Doan Van Kien - Vice Chairman of Trung Son Commune People's Committee said: In early 2018, when the province had no plan to build a model NTM garden, the commune organized a delegation to Ha Tinh to visit the model residential group and model garden.Therefore, when the district and commune implemented the pilot construction of the new rural model garden, 25 households in the commune registered to implement the model garden in 2018. Initially, the commune implemented 2 model gardens at the families of Mr. Dang Dinh Son and Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, both in Hamlet 1.
Families that are piloting the implementation of the new rural model garden will initially receive support from the commune to build fences and buy seedlings.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Thuan - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Do Luong district said that the district has a plan to implement model new rural gardens throughout the district, but so far it is only being implemented in 2 gardens in Trung Son commune.
On June 27, 2018, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 410/KH-UBND on implementing the construction of new rural model gardens in the province, period 2018 - 2020.
According to the roadmap, in 2018, the New Rural Standard Garden Criteria Set was issued, each district selected 5-10 families to pilot the construction of New Rural Standard Gardens. A steering committee for New Rural Standard Gardens was established in selected pilot communes; training and dissemination of study tours to build New Rural Standard Gardens for pilot households were organized. In 2019 and 2020, localities will implement the replication of New Rural Standard Gardens in the area.
