Facebook tests feature to warn of scam messages
Users will soon be able to identify fraudulent messages and fake accounts through a feature that Facebook is testing for its Messenger messaging service.
Facebookis testing a new feature on its Messenger messaging app to identify suspicious accounts sending messages with bad, scam content.
This feature allows users to know the country of origin of the account by phone number and whether it was recently created.
Motherboard posted a screenshot of the new feature's test from multimedia artist Erin Gallagher's Messenger account.
Facebook also confirmed to Motherboard that it was testing the feature, but social network spokesperson Dalya Browne said it was just a “small test” at the moment.

Above is a screenshot in Messenger with the new feature, some information provided such as the account sending the message is logged in with a phone number in Russia, recently created and different from the friend with the same name on Facebook. Especially important is the last information because there are many cases of losing money because they thought they were helping an acquaintance.
This new feature appears to be aimed at combating fraud, scams, and unwanted messages from accounts using fake or misleading identities.
Facebook is testing a new feature after a backlash over fake news and scams on its social network, not only to protect users but also to avoid political scandals.
