The "tripod" is difficult to resolve for the Syrian Army

The Syrian army has just announced its determination to reclaim the remaining territories after successfully capturing Daraa province from opposition rebels.

The Syrian battlefield is expected to maintain a three-territorial division in the near future.

Currently, the situation on the Daraa battlefield is considered settled as the Syrian Government Army (SAA) is approaching the last rebel defense posts here, predicting that the day of victory is very near.

Continuing the momentum of victory, senior officials of the Syrian Army have recently expressed their determination to quickly reclaim other occupied territories, including Idlib and Afrin provinces and areas managed by the US-sponsored Kurds.

However, according to observers, the situation on the Syrian battlefield from now on will be difficult to predict. When the separatist armed groups are defeated, "a tripod will be formed and (the SAA) will find it very difficult to break it."

Many difficulties await the Syrian government army ahead.

The immediate targets of the SAA are Idlib and Afrin provinces, which are currently occupied by pro-Turkish armed forces and Ankara's own army. If these areas are attacked, war between Syria and Türkiye will certainly take place.

Turkey has publicly declared the lands bordering them as a "buffer zone" to ensure security. Ankara is still pursuing a policy that President al Assad must leave before they can hand them over to Damascus.

The current strength of the Syrian Army is unlikely to be able to confront Turkey - the country with the second largest conventional armed forces in NATO, especially when Russia will certainly stay out because it does not want to displease a partner that it still needs to win over.

The "tripod" dividing the territories into three is something that the Syrian Army finds very difficult to break.

Things are even more complicated for the territories held by the Kurds under direct US patronage, which are home to many oil fields and have long been targeted by the Syrian Army.

However, this area is a more solid rock than Idlib or Afrin because it has direct protection from American firepower.

It should be recalled that the US did not hesitate to shoot down a Syrian Air Force Su-22 when it approached, or the fierce airstrike that allegedly killed 177 Russian mercenaries when this group attacked an oil refinery.
