Specifically, according to the British newspaper Express, Mr. Andrew Griffiths, MP for Burton, Staffordshire, has resigned as Minister in charge of small businesses after the recent sex scandal.
The 47-year-old politician, who was Prime Minister Theresa May's chief of staff, called himself "Daddy" when he sent sexually explicit messages to two young women who offered to rent a flat for a date. Mr Griffiths also asked the two girls to send him nude photos. The minister sent sexually explicit messages to Imogen Treharne, 28, and a friend of hers. Treharne said she met Mr Griffiths online.
"I wanted to see him as a nice man but in the end I felt dirty," Treharne shared.
In a statement, the MP said: "I would like to personally apologise to everyone in Burton and Uttoxete for my actions over the past two weeks. The messages were sent during a time of great personal pressure and do not reflect my views or actions."
"I have chosen to resign as Small Business Minister because of my behaviour. I hope people will judge me on my actions and achievements over the last eight years, not just a few moments of foolishness. My priority now is my family and rebuilding their trust. I hope my wife Kate and daughter Alice can forgive me for the pain and sadness I have caused them," Mr Griffiths added. Mr Griffiths became a father for the first time three months ago when his wife gave birth to their daughter.
