Heavy rain for many days combined with the influence of a tropical depression has caused Provincial Road 542 E - the main road connecting Hung Yen Nam, Hung Yen Bac and Hung Tay, to be cut off at Phuc Dien spillway (in Hung Tay commune).

Locals said that at 10am, the water level in this area suddenly rose, flooding the spillway, making it impossible for vehicles to pass. The communes of Hung Tay, Hung Yen Bac, Hung Yen Nam... were isolated.

Upon receiving the news, Nghe An Department of Transport directed the construction unit to install warning signs at both ends of the dam and set up fences to prohibit people and vehicles from passing on this route.

Mr. Tran Huy Hung - a worker working on this route said: Right after the water rose, we installed warning signs and assigned 5 people in the team to be on duty to warn people and guide them to take another route because this point is very dangerous.

By 1 p.m., the water at the dam began to recede. Due to the weak dam, authorities only allowed bicycles and motorbikes to pass through temporarily, while cars and trucks were still strictly prohibited.

Locals said that during the rainy season, this spillway is often flooded, significantly affecting people's lives. Although the water has receded, if it continues to rain, the dam will be flooded again.

Currently, the authorities are assigning people to be on duty 24/7 to direct traffic and limit incidents.
