Deputy Head of Examination Department Vu Trong Luong was arrested for raising exam scores in Ha Giang

Today, Ha Giang Provincial Police prosecuted Mr. Vu Trong Luong (40 years old, Deputy Head of Examination and Quality Management Department, Ha Giang Department of Education).

Mr. Luong was arrested and prosecuted for criminal responsibility.Taking advantage of position and power while performing official duties,according to Article 356 of the 2015 Penal Code.

The prosecution decisions have been approved by the same-level People's Procuracy. Ha Giang police said they are expanding the investigation into the case to clarify the responsibilities of others.

Yesterday, July 19, under the direction of the General Department of Security (Ministry of Public Security), the Investigation Security Agency of Ha Giang Provincial Police initiated criminal proceedings for the crime ofTaking advantage of position and power while performing official duties, to investigate signs of law violations in the grading of national high school exams in Ha Giang.

On July 17, the Ministry of Education's working group announced the results of the verification and grading of all multiple-choice tests of Ha Giang candidates, saying that it had discovered that more than 330 tests of 114 candidates had been tampered with and altered to raise their scores. Among these candidates was the child of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Secretary.

The working group determined that the person who directly intervened in the exam results was Mr. Vu Trong Luong. Some students had their total scores increased by up to 26.8, even 29.95 compared to the appraisal score.
