Rape of a child leads to childbirth, hopes the victim will forgive
(Baonghean.vn) - Having raped an 11-year-old girl four times, leading to her giving birth, Khanh stood before the court, hoping that the victim's family would forgive him and that he would receive leniency from the law so that he could soon rebuild his life.
On July 20, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial and sentenced Nguyen Van Khanh (born 2001, residing in Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop) to 6 years in prison for the crime of "Raping a person under 16 years old".

According to the indictment, from March to June 2017, Nguyen Van Khanh raped Phan Thi L. (born in 2006) four times. It was not until January 2018 that relatives discovered the incident when they saw L.'s belly growing abnormally large. At this time, L. was nearly 7 months pregnant. On March 12, 2018, L. gave birth to a baby boy.
At the time of raping L, Nguyen Van Khanh was just over 16 years old.
At the trial, Nguyen Van Khanh admitted his crime and asked the victim's family for forgiveness, hoping to receive leniency from the law so he could soon return to rebuild his life.
After the victim gave birth, Khanh's family paid 26 million VND to take care of the mother and child. At the trial, the guardian of the victim L. also asked for a reduced sentence for Khanh.
In addition to criminal liability, the panel of judges ordered the defendant and the guardian to be responsible for compensating L. 53 million VND for mental and health damage, hospital expenses during childbirth, etc.; and providing monthly child support of 2 million VND for the child born to the victim until the child turns 18 years old.
