Russian security dismantles large-scale arms smuggling ring from EU
The Russian Federal Security Service said it carried out an operation to block arms supply channels from EU countries to Russia, arresting many related arms smugglers.
According to Spuitniknews, the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on July 23 that the FSB, in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard, had conducted a campaign to block arms supply channels from European Union (EU) countries to Russia, arresting many related arms smugglers.
The press release stated: "The FSB, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard of Russia, has prevented the activities of an interregional criminal group, including individuals residing in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl, involved in organizing a channel for supplying weapons from EU countries to the Russian Federation."
Security forces seized 380 handguns, 45mm mortars, grenade launchers, homemade explosive devices, 15 grenades and many other weapons./.
