Russian security forces dismantled a large-scale arms smuggling ring from the EU.
The Russian Federal Security Service announced that it had conducted an operation to disrupt arms supply channels from EU countries to Russia, arresting numerous arms traffickers involved.
According to Sputniknews, the press department of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on July 23 that, in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard, the FSB had conducted an operation to intercept arms supply channels from European Union (EU) countries to Russia, arresting numerous arms traffickers involved.
The press release stated: "The FSB, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian National Guard, thwarted the activities of an interregional criminal group, including individuals residing in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Yaroslavl, involved in organizing a channel for supplying weapons from EU countries to the Russian Federation."
Security forces seized 380 handguns, 45mm mortars, grenade launchers, improvised explosive devices, 15 grenades, and various other weapons.
