Will the VFF Chairmanship have a strong candidate from the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism?
Regarding the personnel issue of the 8th VFF Congress, it is likely that a senior leader of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will run for the position of President of the new VFF, scheduled to be held at the end of August.
After many postponements, the VFF congress may be finalized in August. Sharing with the press, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai said: "If nothing changes, by the end of August, I have been informed that all preparations for the congress are basically completed, only personnel issues remain. However, the viewpoint of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is that it cannot be extended because the longer it is extended, the more it will negatively affect the development of Vietnamese football."
The key personnel issue at the 8th VFF Congress is always a hot topic, receiving the attention of fans.
Through two nominations received from VFF member organizations, the positions of President and Vice President both had more than 2 candidates introduced, but these candidates were assessed as not strong enough to convince the votes.
Not to mention, recently, the most highly regarded person, VFF Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan, unexpectedly withdrew from the race for the new VFF leadership position, so the race now has only 2 candidates but neither of them received much support. Therefore, VFF has issued a notice to continue accepting additional nominations for the third time.
A member of the VFF Executive Committee revealed that in the latest additional nomination, two more potential candidates were introduced: Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai.
It is expected that in the next few days, after completing the consultation with candidates and related procedures, the Personnel Subcommittee of the 8th VFF Congress will announce the official personnel list to submit to the Ministry of Home Affairs for approval, one month before the congress is held according to current regulations.
