Nghe An aims to manage traffic with smart technology
(Baonghean.vn) - The Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee said that applying technology to the field of transportation is very necessary and building a smart traffic control center is an inevitable direction.
On the morning of July 25, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a working session to listen to reports and give opinions on the implementation of the intelligent transportation system. Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting.
Intelligent transportation systems are the application of technology, including sensors, controls, electronics, information technology and telecommunications in the field of transportation to operate and manage transportation systems.

Presenting at the meeting, the consulting unit said that when the smart traffic system is put into use, it will monitor traffic online. Cameras installed densely on the roads will observe 24/24 at intersections and then transfer data to the center to count and classify vehicles passing through the intersection; record license plates of vehicles passing through the intersection; measure traffic volume; average speed; detect violations of traffic safety order... In addition, the automatic weighing system will also control vehicle load...
“The smart traffic system will reduce traffic congestion, reduce traffic accidents, reduce environmental pollution; improve traffic convenience and move towards a modern civilized living environment,” said Mr. Nguyen Hong Ky - Director of the Department of Transport, adding that currently, some localities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh... have controlled traffic using this system.

According to the plan presented by the consulting unit, the intelligent traffic system operation center will be located at the Department of Transport.
At the meeting, representatives of a number of departments and branches also gave many opinions and contributions to this development plan.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien said that the application of science and technology in the field of traffic is very necessary. "Building a smart traffic control center in the province is an inevitable direction of today's society. This will create transparency and prevent negative aspects in handling violating vehicles, while reducing human resources in operation, as well as improving the efficiency of functional forces...", Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien emphasized.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien assigned the Department of Transport to develop a smart traffic system project suitable for each stage, with a roadmap and steps in accordance with legal regulations. In the immediate future, a traffic management team will be established at the Department's office, a pilot weighing station and a camera surveillance system will be implemented in Vinh City, and the project will be completed in September to submit to the Provincial People's Committee.
