(Baonghean.vn) - While driving on the road, your car's clutch pedal suddenly gets stuck, or even breaks down completely without anyone's help. If you encounter this situation, follow these steps to fix it.

1. Starting the car when the clutch pedal is stuck

-Older cars can usually be started without touching the clutch pedal when the gear is engaged. To start the car isclutch pedal stuck, the driver needs to turn the key, the starter motor will rotate the engine, the car will jerk forward if it is in gear, at this time gently apply the throttle and the car will roll.

- New cars usually have an electric switch at the clutch pedal, this switch only closes when the driver steps on it, allowing the car to start. In case the clutch cannot be released, it is still necessary to step on the clutch pedal to close this switch to start the engine. When the motor starts, it will rotate the engine, the driver needs to hold it for a while and the car will go.

- In case the car is not in gear but the clutch pedal is stuck, you need to start and accelerate the car by pressing the gear lever into 1st gear. The gearbox will refuse, but the pressure on the gear lever will create friction between the synchronizing gear and the rotating gear, making the car move slowly. When the car speed is enough to meet the speed required for 1st gear of the engine, the gear will slide in and the car will run normally.

2. Shifting gears when the clutch pedal is stuck

According to expertsRegarding cars, when the car is running in 1st gear, it is easier to handle a stuck clutch pedal. The driver needs to press the accelerator pedal firmly and release it to pull the gear lever to 0. Then push the gear lever into the 2nd gear slot but do not press hard. When the engine rotates at a speed corresponding to the speed of the second gear ratio, the gear lever will slide into the 2nd gear slot. If the engine speed drops too low, it is necessary to adjust it with the accelerator pedal. Repeat to increase the gear.

3. Reduce gear when clutch pedal is stuck

To downshift without releasing the clutch, follow the reverse procedure to upshift: Keep the vehicle running at a steady speed, pull the gear lever to N, then gradually accelerate while pushing the gear lever toward a lower gear. When the vehicle speed matches the speed required for that gear, it will automatically slide into a lower gear.

4. Stop the car when the clutch pedal is stuck

Stopping or slowing down a vehicle with a stuck clutch is very difficult. If you can get the clutch to “neutral”, the easiest way to stop the vehicle is to pull the stick out of any gear and apply the brake.

If the car is going downhill, it can be restarted by letting the car roll until it is fast enough to shift into 1st gear.

It should be noted that the above treatments can affect the vehicle's operating system, so the best way is to call a tow truck.
