Jurgen Klopp and his team won 4-1 on the evening of July 28 in a friendly match within the framework of the International Champions Cup held in the United States.

Man Utd 1-4 Liverpool

Goals: Pereira 31' - Mane 28', Sturridge 66', Ojo 74', Shaqiri 82'

Liverpool exploded in the second half, scoring three goals in just over 15 minutes. The Champions League runners-up kicked off their run in the 66th minute with Daniel Sturridge. The substitute striker scored just a minute after coming on, tapping in a first-touch finish in the box after a well-timed pass from new signing Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Swiss international also sealed the Reds' 4-1 victory with a bicycle kick volley in the 82nd minute. In between these two goals was a successful penalty kick by youngster Sheyi Ojo.

Before the second half, Liverpool also took the initiative. They had almost twice as much possession and shots as their opponents. In the ninth minute, the Anfield team almost took the lead when Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk had two consecutive shots. The ball even went beyond the reach of Man Utd goalkeeper Lee Grant, but Ander Herrera cleared it right on the goal line.

Despite a good start, Liverpool almost conceded the first goal. In the 19th minute, Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata combined well, creating an opportunity for the Spanish midfielder to score against Liverpool. However, the goal was disallowed because the former Chelsea player was in an offside position.

Ten minutes later, Sadio Mane put Liverpool ahead with a penalty. Salah was fouled in the box, and the Senegal international made no mistake from 11 yards.

Having opened the scoring, Liverpool lost their advantage too quickly. Three minutes after taking the lead, Andreas Pereira levelled the game with a beautiful free kick from about 25 meters. Salah and his teammates tried to find a goal to widen the gap in the first half but failed. It was not until the second half, thanks to the appearance of Sturridge and Shaqiri, that they enjoyed the joy of victory.

Defeating Man Utd helped Liverpool have a second consecutive victory at ICC 2018, after losing to Borussia Dortmund in the opening match. With what has been shown and the squad depth significantly improved in the summer of 2018, Liverpool is a strong candidate for the 2018-2019 Premier League championship.
