Performance of the Vietnamese delegation in the international tank racing competition

On July 29, Vietnamese tank soldiers took part for the first time in the Tank Biathlon 2018 within the framework of the International Army Games (IAG), also known as "Army", held annually in Russia.SputnikIn the photo, the Vietnamese delegation is getting acquainted with the T-72B3 tank with the support of Russian experts.

In this tournament, the Vietnamese team used 4 T-72B3 main battle tanks provided by Russia. This is a modern version of the T-72 series, equipped with many advanced technologies, not inferior to the Russian T-90A series. In the photo, the Vietnamese team conducted a test firing on T-72B3 tanks at the Alabino shooting range, on the outskirts of Moscow.

With 23 countries participating in this year’s Tank Biathlon, a tank could be in the lineup of many countries. According to the draw, the Vietnamese team was equipped with yellow-on-blue tanks, shared with Angola, Kuwait and South Africa.

The T-72B3 tank version was introduced by Russia in 2010 with the aim of improving the combat capabilities of the old T-72B. This upgrade package provides a completely new Kalina fire control system and ballistic computer. The gunner can aim at longer ranges and more accurately thanks to the Sosna-U multi-channel sighting complex, while protection is enhanced by Kontakt-5 ERA clusters arranged in the configuration of the T-90A tank.

China and Belarus are two countries that brought their own equipment to compete, to ensure familiarity with the equipment as well as promote domestic defense products.

Kazakhstan's T-72B3 fires at the target at the Alabino firing range. The Vietnamese tank team will compete on July 29, 31 and August 4, with group opponents Myanmar, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
