White House confirms plan to impose 25% tariff on Chinese goods
The US administration plans to impose 25% tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports of goods and services, US Trade Representative Robert Laitheiser announced on his website.

“The discussion on these measures is already underway,” a senior administration official said. “Hearings on the issue will begin later this month, and now President Donald Trump has tasked the trade representative with increasing the tariff rate from 10% to 25%,” he said.
"We have repeatedly told them about our concerns. We have not seen their reaction. We are imposing additional sanctions on their goods, because we think this makes them behave honestly in the international market," - the official added.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported, citing its own sources, that the US administration plans to propose a 25% import tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods and services.
