On the afternoon of August 6, Colonel Duong Anh Kiet - Head of the Criminal Police Department of Dong Thap Province Police said that the investigation agency is temporarily detaining Le Van Dung (62 years old, residence unknown) to investigate the act of "Murder".

According to the investigation agency, at 10:00 a.m. on July 31, Ms. Truong Thi Phung (48 years old, residing in Binh Thanh commune, Thanh Binh district) was discovered dead by her husband on the family boat anchored on the river, close to National Highway 30.

At the scene, the victim suffocated to death, with his hands tied.

The suspect was arrested.

The professional forces quickly began investigating and by late on August 4, they had captured the perpetrator who was hiding in My An commune (Cho Moi district, An Giang province).

The suspect, Le Van Dung, confessed that he had no permanent residence and lived by fishing on the river. On the day of the murder, Dung broke into the victim’s boat and used his hand to cover Ms. Phung’s mouth, leading to her death. The suspect then used a rope to tie the victim’s hands and searched for her belongings before fleeing.
