Two cousins tragically drowned while swimming in the canal
(Baonghean.vn) - Going to their aunt's house in Vien Thanh commune (Nghe An) to attend a death anniversary, two young brothers, the children of their uncle and aunt, invited each other to go down to the N2 canal to bathe. The water was too big for them and they could not swim, so both of them drowned and died.
Mr. Tran Ba Toan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district confirmed the above information and said that the two drowning victims were Tran Kim Huy and Tran Kim Quan (both born in 2015 in hamlet 16, Luong Hoi village, Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district) who were cousins.
Initial information, at around 12 noon on August 9th, after returning to their aunt's house for a memorial service, being hyperactive by nature and the weather being hot, the two children and some friends in the neighborhood invited each other to go down to canal N2 through hamlet 4 (section to Yen Xa Station, Vien Thanh commune) to bathe. The canal is large, and they did not know how to swim, so both were drowned by the current.
When the children discovered the incident, they called for adults to come to the rescue and pull the two children ashore to give first aid and take them to a medical facility, but they had already died.
The victims' bodies were immediately handed over to their families for burial according to local customs.
Upon receiving the news, the local authorities of Son Thanh commune visited and supported each family with 1 million VND./.
