On the morning of August 10, the Environmental Police Department of Dak Lak Province Police said that they were completing documents to handle a case of transporting over 6,000 liters of used cooking oil that was being brought to Binh Duong Province for recycling.

Previously, at around 2:00 p.m. on August 9, from a source of information from the people about a truck with license plate 68C-066.38 transporting a large quantity of used cooking oil on Dinh Nup Street, Tan Lap Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City.

A working group of the Environmental Police Department of Dak Lak Province Police quickly arrived to inspect. The cooking oil belonged to Mr. Pham Tien (born in 1974, residing in Nghia Hanh District, Quang Ngai Province). At the time of inspection, the truck contained over 250 25-liter plastic cans filled with used cooking oil.

At the time of the inspection, Mr. Tien could not present any documents or invoices to prove the origin of the goods. Initially, Mr. Tien confessed that he had gone to Dak Lak province and then to restaurants and eateries to buy and collect used cooking oil.

Mr. Tien buys each liter for 1 to 2,000 VND/liter. Then, he transports it to Binh Duong province and sells it to recycling facilities for 5,000 VND/liter.

Currently, the Environmental Police Department is completing the file to handle Mr. Pham Tien according to the provisions of law.
