Ukrainian President Piotr Poroshenko said that European partners are being "bewitched" by Russia with the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.

President of Ukraine Piotr Poroshenko.

Meanwhile, he asserted, "Nord Stream-2 is the Kremlin's 'Trojan horse' whose ultimate goal is to oppose the European energy sector and disrupt geopolitical security," Poroshenko wrote on his personal Facebook page.

In addition, Poroshenko stated that he clearly saw Russia's "true motives" in the gas pipeline project, which, in the Ukrainian president's opinion, would have "catastrophic consequences" for European partners.

Poroshenko called on the EU to wake up and reject Russia's "deceptive and malicious" charms to "protect" the continent's energy interests.

Russia has repeatedly urged against considering the pipeline project as a tool of influence. According to Vladimir Putin, Moscow considers it a purely economic project.
