5 prisoners were conditionally released early

On August 17, Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Trong Dung - Warden of Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center said that the unit held a ceremony to announce the decision to conditionally release 5 prisoners in 2018 at the Provincial Police Detention Center.

According to the provisions of the Penal Code, a person serving a prison sentence for a serious crime, a very serious crime, or an especially serious crime whose prison sentence has been reduced, or a person serving a prison sentence for a less serious crime, may be released from prison early if he or she meets the following conditions: first-time offender; has made a lot of progress, has a good sense of reform; has a clear place of residence.
These people have completed the additional penalty of a fine, the obligation to compensate for damages and court costs; have served at least half of the term of imprisonment or at least 15 years in the case of life imprisonment but it has been reduced to a term of imprisonment.
According to the Provincial Police Detention Center, those who are conditionally released from prison before their term ends must fulfill their obligations during the probation period, which is equal to the remaining time of their prison sentence.
These prisoners, after being conditionally released from prison early, will return to their localities and be subject to the management, supervision, and education of the commune police and local authorities.
Conditional early release from prison is a new measure in the execution of prison sentences, first prescribed and supplemented in the Penal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code.
This policy not only ensures deterrence, education and rehabilitation of criminals, and the fight against crime, but also has humane and humanitarian significance, opening up new opportunities for criminals to reintegrate into the community early, while reducing pressure and resources for criminal management.
