(Baonghean.vn) - According to a quick report from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province, as of 5 p.m. on August 17, floods have killed 5 people and severely damaged many properties, houses, rice and crops.
Floodwaters have swept away and killed5 peoplein Ky Son district are Ms. Moong Me Tan (37 years old) and her brother Cut Van Thon (11 years old) in Luu Thang village, Chieu Luu commune; Ha Bao Cu (10 years old) in Dong Tren village, Tay Son commune; Lu Van Giap (14 years old) in Khe Tang village, Chieu Luu commune. 1 body drifted to Huu Kiem commune and has not yet been identified.

According to a quick report from 13/21 districts: Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Nghia Dan, Thai Hoa Town, Tan Ky, Hoang Mai Town, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, heavy rain and rising flood waters caused collapse.17 houses; including 15 houses in Ky Son district, 1 house in Tuong Duong district and 1 house in Quy Chau district;1,184 housesIn Quynh Luu, Tan Ky, Quy Hop, Tuong Duong, Quy Chau and Thai Hoa town were flooded.

Over 2,300 hectares of rice, 693 hectares of corn, various vegetables, over 1,400 hectares of annual crops, 536 hectares of perennial crops, and fruit trees were flooded and damaged; 6.5 hectares of forest were affected.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control continues to strengthen information to authorities at all levels and people; directs districts, cities and towns to proactively organize evacuation of people in low-lying areas and areas at risk of flooding; pay special attention to mountainous and coastal districts to ensure safety of people's lives and property.
Check underground, overflow, and traffic jam locations to warn people; mobilize vehicles and guards to direct traffic, provide security, and close roads to ensure safety.
Implement plans to ensure the safety of dykes and irrigation reservoirs; Arrange 24/7 on-duty staff at the construction site during periods of heavy rain and floods to inspect, detect and handle any potential safety risks from the first hour.../.
