(Baonghean.vn) - According to plan, on the morning of August 20, students of kindergarten, primary and secondary schools in Nghe An will return to school to prepare for the new school year. However, due to many schools being severely damaged by floods, thousands of students in Ky Son, Tuong Duong and Con Cuong districts have not been able to return to school.
At Con Cuong District Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, although yesterday the police, army, teachers and parents from all sectors were mobilized to participate in the cleanup and flood relief work, it was still not completed as of this morning.

According to teacher Nguyen Dinh Nhung - Principal of the school: Due to the characteristics of the school, from August 1 to 5, the school's students have started to attend school. However, currently, due to the impact of storm No. 4, it is very difficult to stabilize the school, especially for more than 300 students in the dormitory. Initial statistics show that about 70% of the items for the dormitory rooms have been completely damaged. In addition, the school's classrooms and functional rooms have also been damaged due to being submerged in mud...
According to the school leader, the school has informed students to start school on August 27 according to the Department of Education and Training's schedule and to bring extra sheets, pillows, and mosquito nets to serve the boarding organization.

Faced with this reality, although the return to school of students is delayed compared to the plan, the department has directed schools to coordinate with the authorities and parents to overcome the storm and flood. At the same time, it requires schools to notify parents, teachers and students not to go to isolated schools...
Some schools such as Lung village school (Tam Thai commune kindergarten), Khe Ngau (Thach Giam kindergarten), Thoi Voi village (Nhon Mai kindergarten) were flooded and had their roofs blown off and could not be repaired in time.
Across the province, according to Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training, on the morning of August 20, according to the schedule, all students at all levels started to return to school. However, in Ky Son, Tuong Duong, and Con Cuong districts, due to the impact of floods and rains, the recovery work is still very difficult and only about 2/3 of the schools in the area can return to school as planned.
The mountainous district of Ky Son was the most severely damaged in the recent flood. Floodwaters collapsed teachers’ houses, submerged classrooms and teaching equipment. Estimated damage was over 3.5 billion VND.

Right after the first day of school, schools will also carry out activities to prepare for the opening ceremony of the new school year. According to the school year plan, in this school year, junior high and high school levels will have at least 37 weeks of actual study in the school year and the first semester will start on August 27, 2018.
The remaining levels will have 32 - 35 weeks and the first semester will start on September 5, 2018.
