Efforts to stabilize life after floods in western districts of Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Floodwaters have gradually receded. Local authorities in Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son districts... of Nghe An province are directing forces and people to focus on overcoming the consequences of floods and stabilizing life soon.

In Ky Son district:On the morning of August 20, the government, forces and people of the mountainous district of Ky Son continued to repair buildings, schools and houses damaged by flash floods.
The district mobilized all military and police forces, 7/7 border posts, and military forces from 21/21 communes and towns to help people, with over 65,000 people participating in overcoming damage caused by floods.

The district also allocated budget to support 6 families with deceased people, each with 5.4 million VND; initial support of 10 million VND/household for households whose houses were swept away; support for households whose houses were flooded with 1 million VND/household; visit and encourage households in difficult times...
As of August 20, the district had 6 deaths. In terms of property, the district had nearly 300 houses and 4 schools flooded. Of these, 16 houses were washed away and completely submerged, 40 houses had to be evacuated due to landslides. The floods also damaged and blocked many traffic routes.
In Tuong Duong district:203 houses and 2 schools were flooded and damaged; 62,000m2 of fish pond area was damaged, 33 fish cages were swept away, 2 domestic water works were damaged; many traffic routes were eroded and damaged; total damage was over 25 billion VND.
Mr. Lo Kham Kha - Head of Tuong Duong Agriculture Department said: Immediately after the flood receded, the District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue assigned each member and specialized departments of the District People's Committee to directly direct the facilities to organize response and overcome the consequences.

Direct the People's Committees of communes and towns to mobilize people in villages to urgently evacuate houses at risk of landslides and flooding to safe places, support houses affected by landslides, promptly dredge and repair landslide and damaged roads, and clear up fallen trees blocking the road to ensure traffic safety.
At the same time, the forces coordinated to support people to evacuate to safe places; set up checkpoints and organize guards at points at risk of landslides; at flooded traffic locations, absolutely do not allow people and vehicles to pass.
According to a quick report from Nghe An Department of Transport:Up to this point, on national and provincial highways along the districts of Ky Son, Que Phong, Quy Hop, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong... there are over 30 large and small landslides causing traffic jams.

The Department of Transport has conducted surveys and inspected the damage on the roads, promptly developed plans to fix and repair. The locations that can be repaired immediately have been implemented by the construction units. Specifically, on National Highway 16 to Ky Son, Que Phong, landslides occurred at over 20 large and small locations, leveling over 10,000 m3 of mud and soil to ensure traffic.
Up to now, basically the roads have been repaired, ensuring people's travel; the estimated amount of mud and soil on the traffic routes is over 30,000 m3.
Particularly on National Highway 16 and National Highway 48, there are still some large landslides, so the construction unit is urgently fixing them. Some provincial roads will be partially cleared so that motorbikes and small vehicles can pass.

6 people died, more than 2,000 houses were flooded due to heavy rain in Nghe An
