(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 23, Vinh City People's Committee held a Conference to summarize the 2017-2018 school year, deploy tasks for the 2018-2019 school year and review 5 years of implementing Resolution 29-NQ/TW.

Also attending were comrade Vo Viet Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee; Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee; Director of the Department of Education and Training.

In the 2017-2018 school year, the quality of education in Vinh city continued to be maintained and had many remarkable results. At all levels of education such as preschool, primary and secondary schools, there were innovations in teaching and learning, focusing on developing students' qualities and abilities.

Up to this point, the whole city has 63 schools meeting national standards, accounting for 76.7%, higher than the average of the whole province.

At the end of the school year, the rate of students completing their study programs reached about 99%. The whole city had many students winning high prizes in competitions and exchanges organized by the industry, of which at the primary level, 30 students won prizes in the provincial Youth Informatics competition, 1 third prize in the national Youth Informatics competition, 23 students won prizes in the Math Talent Search competition. At the secondary level, 77 students were recognized as excellent students of the province (reaching a rate of 77.04%), with 5 projects winning prizes in the Science and Technology Competition for high school students...

In the 10th grade entrance exam, the whole city had more than 500 students admitted to specialized schools of the province (accounting for nearly 61%), with 5 students achieving the highest scores in the province...

At the summary conference, the city's education and training sector also pointed out shortcomings such as the state management of education, the implementation of democracy and discipline in schools still have shortcomings. Some people doing management work are not really creative; a few teachers are not dedicated to their profession, not devoted to their students.

The management of illegal extra-curricular teaching and learning outside of school still faces many difficulties and is not very effective. Overcrowding and lack of classrooms still exist in some schools, especially at the preschool and primary levels.

Regarding the preparation for the new school year, at the conference, many presentations from schools also said: Currently, the shortage of teachers in the city is quite common, especially at the primary and preschool levels. From this reality, schools hope to soon have a mechanism for schools to recruit and contract teachers, and have a financial support policy to pay salaries for guest teachers, teachers who teach overtime...

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Director of the Department of Education and Training highly appreciated the efforts of the city's education sector in the past school year. She hoped that as a leading unit, with its own advantages and advantages, the city would need to be more creative and innovative in its activities, proactively advise the sector and boldly make its own proposals to develop the city's education sector.

On this occasion, the President presented the Third Class Labor Medal to comrade Thai Khac Tan - Head of the City's Department of Education and Training.

The Prime Minister, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Provincial People's Committee also awarded Certificates of Merit and emulation flags to more than 50 outstanding collectives and individuals for their many achievements in education.
