On the morning of August 15, Tan Ky District Police received a report from Mr. Lo Van Tam (residing in Thai Son hamlet, Phu Son commune, Tan Ky district) about his family's property being stolen. Mr. Tam said that on the night of August 14, before going to bed, he still had 40 million VND in his wallet in his pocket hanging on the rack and a phone worth about 1.5 million VND, but by morning, all of this property had disappeared.
After receiving the report, Tan Ky District Police quickly began an investigation. Using professional measures, at 2 p.m. the same day, the police identified the thief as Ha Van Tan. The subject was summoned to the investigation agency for questioning.
At the police station, Ha Van Tan confessed that due to lack of money for entertainment, he took advantage of the relationship he had known while selling glue together and visited Tam's house many times. Although they were from different districts, Tan's house was only about 3 km away from Tam's house.
Many times when visiting, Tan saw that Tam's family was relatively well-off, often leaving money hanging carelessly in their pockets in the corner of the house. In particular, Tam's family rarely locked the door when going to bed.
At around 2am on August 15, Tan sneaked into Mr. Tam’s house, picked his wallet and stole 40 million VND and a mobile phone while Mr. Tam’s family was still asleep. After that, Tan took them home and hid them in the hole of the family’s longan tree.
The case is being further investigated and clarified by Tan Ky district police.
