US-backed rebel group plots terrorist attacks in Syria

The Russian Reconciliation Center stated that the rebel group called "Eastern Army Lions", a group with ties to the US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA), planned to carry out terrorist attacks and capture the area near the ancient city of Palmyra within a week.
The center's report said: "The rebels' goal is to carry out a series of terrorist attacks in the vicinity of Palmyra city, and secure a corridor for about 300 gunmen to capture the ancient city within a week."
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the captured rebels said that about 500 fighters were stationed at the camp near the Al-Tanf military base of the US-led international coalition. In addition, the rebels also received weapons and ammunition from the US base.
Al-Tanf base is located near the Rukban refugee camp on the Syria-Jordan border, sheltering more than 60,000 women and children evacuated from Raqqa and Der ezZor./.
