Nghe An: Herding buffalo with a "huge" car

However, in Dai Son commune (Do Luong), some people have used "monster" super-sized and super-heavy cars to transport buffalo from their homes to the fields for grazing. In the late afternoon, they herd the buffalo back onto the car and take them home.

The people who use “huge” cars to herd buffaloes are traders who specialize in trading buffaloes and cows. They buy buffaloes from different regions to raise at home, and after a while, they will transport the buffaloes to sell.
Because of buying buffaloes in large numbers, raising them at home will consume a lot of food, bran, grass, straw, etc. Therefore, grazing them in the fields will reduce a large amount of expenses. However, in the nearby fields, there will be no open land to graze buffaloes, in areas where people grow vegetables, rice, peanuts, grazing is strictly prohibited, to avoid buffaloes destroying crops.
Faced with this situation, people who buy buffalo in large quantities have come up with the idea of transporting buffalo by car from home to distant fields with lots of wild grass for grazing.

Each truck carries about 13 to 20 buffaloes. Mr. Nguyen Van Hung in Hamlet 8, Dai Son Commune - a truck owner who transports buffaloes to the fields said: "The fields here are wide and there is a lot of grass, but moving the buffaloes on foot is too far, tiring and unsafe, so we have to use a truck. In the next few days, I will transport these buffaloes to Cao Bang to sell."
Households that "herd" buffalo by car said that the grazing time usually lasts about 7 days or less. Grazing in the field helps the buffalo exercise and live in a fresh air environment, thus giving them enough strength to travel hundreds of kilometers by car to provinces and cities across the country for sale.
