(Baonghean.vn) - That was the emphasis of President of Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development Ho Xuan Hung at the conference to review 5 years of implementing the project to restructure the agricultural sector in the period of 2013 - 2020 organized by the Provincial People's Committee on the afternoon of September 12.
Attending the conference were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Ho Xuan Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development; Associate Professor - Doctor Tran Dinh Thien - former Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute, member of the Prime Minister's Advisory Group.
Comrades: Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development chaired the conference.

After 5 years of implementing the project, the basic targets of the industry by the end of 2017 all achieved and exceeded the project's targets and the Resolution of the 10th Provincial Party Congress.18. The growth rate of production value in 2018 is estimated at 4.8%, the average for the period 2017 - 2018 is estimated at 4.52%. The average income per capita in rural areas increased by 1.42 times compared to 2013; the poverty rate in rural areas in 2017 was 7.54%, down 12.24% compared to 2013. By 2017, 181 communes and 3 districts met the new rural standards, 46 villages and hamlets met the new rural standards according to the province's criteria; the average number of criteria was 14.54 criteria/commune.

The Agriculture and Rural Development sector has rapidly applied scientific and technological advances to production; linked production with agricultural product consumption, built large fields... contributing to increasing efficiency per unit of cultivated land area. In the first 6 months of 2018, the growth rate of the entire sector's production value reached 4.92%; the 2018 spring crop had a good harvest.

Appreciating the achievements of Nghe An in recent times, Mr. Ho Xuan Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development also stated his opinion: Restructuring agriculture must be associated with restructuring of socio-economic, tourism, trade, labor resources, and development of transport infrastructure in the area. Nghe An province and the agricultural sector need to strongly innovate the restructuring mindset towards clean, sustainable agriculture, applying technology.High investment in comparative advantage to replace comprehensive agricultural development; need to review and adjust policies to attract businesses to invest in rural agriculture, with special attention to businesses in the province.

In particular, Nghe An needs to be flexible and persistent in building brands for products with advantages in quality and quantity of the province. Build and promote brands of traditional products associated with new consumption trends. Promote the development of centers.Research and apply science and technology as a launching pad to develop agriculture in a safe, high-quality and valuable direction.

Concluding the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong requested: Localities and units need to continue to well implement the restructuring project of the agricultural sector in the period of 2018 - 2020. Focus onDevelop, review, supplement and effectively implement mechanisms and policies suitable for each development stage of each product and each locality; continue to implement the agricultural, forestry and fishery program associated with modern processing industry. Pay attention to attracting enterprises to invest in agriculture; develop cooperatives and agricultural cooperative unions to operate effectively.

On this occasion, 10 collectives and 8 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee for their achievements in restructuring the agricultural sector in the 2013-2018 period.
