(Baonghean.vn) - “Traffic safety for tomorrow’s smiles” is a traffic safety curriculum in schools that has been implemented since the 2018-2019 school year at 414 secondary schools in the province. The information was given at a presentation for teachers organized by the Department of Education and Training on the morning of September 19.

“Traffic Safety for Tomorrow’s Smiles” is a traffic safety teaching program for high school students jointly implemented by the Department of Secondary Education and the National Traffic Safety Committee starting in 2011 with the desire to equip students with knowledge of the Road Traffic Law as well as safe traffic participation skills through practical traffic lessons.

Over the years, the program has continued to be expanded to other localities and received many positive reviews from government agencies, education departments, teachers and students nationwide. In Nghe An, since the 2012-2013 school year, 89 high schools in the province have implemented this program.

Continuing the success, in the 2018-2019 school year, Nghe An is one of ten provinces and cities nationwide selected by the Ministry of Education and Training to pilot the program at the secondary school level. Participating in this program, students will be provided with basic information about the traffic safety situation in Vietnam; warned of the risk of damage caused by traffic accidents and equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to participate in traffic safely.

In particular, the entire program is introduced in an innovative way through real-life situations, observing models, and pre-staged clips. Teachers also participate in training courses so that they can proactively create curriculum and organize many teaching methods to convey lessons to students in a lively, easy-to-understand way and related to traffic reality in each locality.

At the end of the course, teachers and students across the province will have the opportunity to participate in the "Traffic Safety for Tomorrow's Smiles" contest held from December 2018 to the end of April 2019. The Final Round and Award Ceremony are scheduled to be held in April 2019.

Previously, in the past two consecutive school years, the delegation of teachers and students of Nghe An won first prize nationwide in the "Traffic safety for tomorrow's smiles" contest for high school level.
