In the Miss Vietnam 2018 contest, Pham Ngoc Ha My (22 years old) was a contestant who attracted attention right from the preliminary round in the North. Not only does she have a lovely face, she also has an impressive academic record as she just graduated from the Diplomatic Academy, speaking 4 foreign languages: English, French, Korean and Chinese.

In 2017, she became known to the online community as the female student who gave flowers to President Donald Trump during his visit to Vietnam.

Although many people expected her to be in the top 10, in the final night of Miss Vietnam 2018, Ha My only stopped at the top 15. The beauty said she was not disappointed but quite satisfied with this result because she thought that every title has a reason. She also admitted that one of the reasons why she was not in the top 10 was because her body was not proportional to the other contestants.

Ha My used to be a chubby girl weighing 83kg and 3 months before registering for the Miss Vietnam contest, she lost weight quickly to 62kg. Although she did not achieve the expected results, Ha My still felt happy because she received a lot of attention and love from the audience.

What Ha My feels guilty about is that she is afraid her mother will be sad because of the top 15 results. The day before the final night, she lost her bag containing familiar items. She considered this a 'bad omen' and cried a lot. However, she also comforted herself, even called her mother to encourage her not to worry if she did not achieve any title. "My parents divorced when I was in 7th grade, for many years I have only lived with my mother, so all her efforts and money were invested in me for the competition. I am just worried that my mother will have financial problems and will have to borrow money because of me," she said.

Sharing about the new Miss Tran Tieu Vy, the 'girl who gave flowers to President Trump' commented: "Tieu Vy is a beautiful, good girl. She is innocent, naive but very hard-working and eager to learn. If Vy were not a good person, I would not be so close to her. I know that each person has their own criteria for beauty, but everyone should not be harsh on Vy. I believe that Vy will mature and shine more in the future."

In the contest, Ha My was placed in the same group with Tran Tieu Vy, Khanh Linh, Nguyen Hoai Phuong Anh, Pham Thi Luyen. Although she did not share a room with the new beauty queen, she always supported Tieu Vy in everyday activities. "Vy is the youngest in the group, so everyone considers her the youngest to protect. She has no intention of participating in any other beauty pageant or entering showbiz, but will apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fulfill her childhood dream. Ha My also confided that she initially came to Miss Vietnam with the goal of losing weight. After being chosen as the female student presenting flowers to US President Donald Trump, she realized that if she lost weight and had a slimmer body, she would have more opportunities in work as well as life. At the beginning of the weight loss process, she used many methods such as eating sweet potatoes, oats... However, to lose weight quickly, she followed the General Motor Diet method and in the first week she almost suffered from physical weakness. She divided her diet into only vegetables, fruits, milk, and occasionally ate a little meat. In addition, she worked out at the gym using the Cardio method, wearing a raincoat every day and working out for 4 hours. She did not sit in the air conditioner, even when sleeping, so that her body would sweat a lot, and the weight loss effect would be faster.

In the future, Ha My wants to become a strong, independent woman like her mother. Her mother used to be a fashion designer but has now switched to restaurant business. The beauty said that since her parents divorced, her mother never made her feel disadvantaged compared to other friends. However, she still feels jealous of people who have a happy family, with both a father and a mother.
