Mr. Sam Van Hien, a resident of Hoa Tien village, said that this crop his family chose the right rice variety so the yield was quite good. However, it was not a bumper crop. During the period when the rice plants were growing, they suffered three consecutive floods, so the yield was significantly affected.

Many households in Ban village lost their crops because of pests and flash floods. Some households in Ban and Hoa Tien villages lost everything because the rice had no grain. People had to cut it down to feed livestock.

Chau Tien commune has 510 hectares of rice. The average yield is 55 quintals/ha. However, the 2018 crop is estimated to be only about 40 quintals/ha. The cause is believed to be the impact of floods in late August and early September.

It is expected that by the end of 2018, Chau Tien will become the first commune in Quy Chau district to reach the new rural finish line. In addition to investing in completing the criteria, the local government also encourages people to invest in mechanization in agricultural production.
