Sputnik news agency quoted Sergei Garbuk, Head of the Information Research Department of the Russian Foundation for Advanced Research (FPI), as saying that the project is being implemented very vigorously and is highly feasible. Several field tests have shown the effectiveness of these technologies.
According to Mr. Garbuk, Russian experts will complete the development of two technologies to identify terrorist hideouts in 2019. The first technology is to detect weapons caches and terrorist shelters through analyzing photos taken by UAVs.
The second technology is related to defensive tasks - automatic detection of naval, air and ground weapons equipment on images obtained from space. The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology is the main research and development agency of this technology.
