How to change 11-digit phone number on Facebook

According to Decision No. 798/QD-BTTTT of the Ministry of Information and Communications, from September 15, 2018 to November 14, 2018, telecommunications networks will convert 11-digit subscribers to 10-digit subscribers.

Most major services such as Facebook, Google, Viber, etc. support two-factor authentication via SMS. When changing your phone number, users may not receive an OTP code via phone or a login warning. Therefore, you must proactively change your phone number on Facebook to avoid not receiving a confirmation code, not being able to log in, or not being able to retrieve your account when it is hacked.

Note, users should only update on Facebook when your phone number has been successfully converted by the network operator.

First, open the Facebook app on your smartphone, click on the menu icon in the right corner, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings.

Next, go to Personal Information > Phone Number, click Remove to remove the old phone number (enter your Facebook password when prompted). Then, users just need to click on the Add Phone Number option and enter the new phone number that has been changed by the network operator. Facebook will then send a code to the phone, enter it in the blank box to confirm.

Similarly, if you are using a computer, open your browser and log in to your Facebook account. Then go to Settings or click directly on the linkhttps://www.facebook.com/settings, go to Mobile and remove the old number, add a new number similar to above. Note, when adding the phone number is complete, you need to confirm again before using.

For Facebook, you only need to change your phone number once and all personal information will be updated.

In addition, users should also update all the prefixes in the contact list by installing one of the three applications My MobiFone, My Viettel or My VNPT for smartphones. Next, click on the item Convert 11-digit contact list to 10-digit and follow the instructions until completed.

Note that the names and locations of the options may vary depending on the app you are using. Compared to third-party apps, these software only automatically update the numbers that have been converted by the carrier, not all.

Currently, some banks have started sending notifications and suggesting ways for you to update your phone number right at home. For some banks, individual users only need to compose a text message to register to change their phone number right at home, and the bank will change everything else automatically.
