Both subjects had previous convictions for robbery and intentional injury, and had just been drug-free for a few months, but still refused to reform, and were arrogant, severely beating a police lieutenant and a militia member on duty to maintain public order...

On October 6, Son Tra District Police (Da Nang) announced that they had decided to prosecute the case, arrest and temporarily detain two suspects, Tran Van Thuy (24 years old, residing in Man Thai ward, Son Tra district) and Tran Cong Son (27 years old, residing in Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district) for the crime of resisting people on official duty.

Two suspects, Thuy and Son, attacked and seriously injured Senior Lieutenant Tran Van Chanh (Phuoc My Ward Police, Son Tra District) and Phan Thanh Hung (19 years old), a militiaman of Phuoc My Ward.

Two thugs resisted and injured law enforcement officers Tran Van Thuy and Tran Cong Son.

Previously, on the evening of September 24, Son, Thuy and two others organized a drinking party, turned on loudspeakers and sang, causing disorder and noise on Vuong Thua Vu Street (Phuoc My Ward). The incident lasted until 11:30 p.m. when residents called the ward police.

Upon receiving the news, a working group led by Senior Lieutenant Tran Van Chanh and the militia of Phuoc My ward arrived to handle the situation. When Senior Lieutenant Chanh asked Son and Thuy's group not to use loudspeakers to sing, causing noise to affect the houses of residents in the surrounding area, Thuy reacted rudely, insulted, and had a defiant attitude.

Then, Thuy rushed forward and used his hand to hit Captain Chanh twice in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. At the same time, seeing his comrades attacking the working group, Son also rushed in to hit militiaman Phan Thanh Hung, injuring Hung's left eye. After committing the crime, the group got in the car and left.

Thuy is known to have a criminal record for robbery and intentional injury, and has just completed a drug rehabilitation course a few months ago. Son has a previous conviction of 18 months in prison for intentional injury.
