Complaining about low salaries and increasing work pressure, thousands of workers at Hoang Long Industrial Park went on strike.

On October 6, about 8,000 workers of Aleron Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd., a member of Hong Fu Vietnam Group (located in Hoang Long Industrial Park, Thanh Hoa City) gathered outside the company lobby to demand their rights.

Workers reported that recently the company has been creating more work pressure and increasing production, but wages have not changed compared to before. In addition, allowances such as gas, lunch, bonuses, etc. are low and unsatisfactory.

Thanh Hoa City Labor Federation coordinated with the company's union to dialogue and record workers' opinions. At noon of the same day, the groups disbanded and returned home.

The incident at Aleron Vietnam Shoe Company Ltd. had not yet subsided when, in the afternoon of the same day, thousands of workers at Rollsport 2 Vietnam Shoe Company Ltd. (Hoang Long Industrial Park) continued to collectively stop work. The workers demanded that the company's leaders resolve their rights similar to those at Aleron Vietnam Shoe Company.

Ms. Hoang Thi Yen, President of the Thanh Hoa City Labor Federation, said that workers proposed to increase wages, increase lunch money, fuel money, reduce pressure on output delivery... For now, both businesses have agreed to increase lunch money from 15,000 VND/person/day to 17,000 VND in October; increase holiday bonuses from 30,000 VND to 50,000 VND/person from January 2019.

The remaining recommendations are being considered and resolved by relevant units and business leaders.
