Public opinion of party members and officials on the 8th Central Conference of the 12th term

On the afternoon of October 6, the 8th Conference of the 12th Party Central Committee concluded after 5 days of urgent, serious, democratic and responsible work, completing all the contents of the proposed program. Public opinion of cadres, party members and people highly appreciated the results achieved at this Conference and believed that the General Secretary concurrently serving as President is in accordance with the will of the Party and the people.

One of the contents that attracted public attention was that the Party Central Committee unanimously (100%) introduced comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Party Central Committee to be elected by the National Assembly to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the 6th Session of the 14th National Assembly. Many cadres and party members expressed their agreement and support for the General Secretary to concurrently hold the position of President.

Mr. Vu Mao - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the National Assembly Office, said that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong being elected as President is a solution that is in accordance with the people's wishes.

"During the discussion, especially the veteran comrades and former National Assembly deputies, they said that it would be best if Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong also served as President in the current situation. When we received that news, we were very happy and pleased the people," said Mr. Vu Mao.

Public opinion also highly appreciated the Central Committee's agreement to issue regulations on exemplary responsibilities of cadres and party members, first of all, members of the Politburo, members of the Secretariat, and members of the Party Central Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Ha - former Head of the Party Base Department, Central Organization Committee affirmed that the higher the level of cadres who set an example, the more influential it will be to the whole society.

“Among 200 Central officials, there are 20 comrades in the Politburo and Secretariat, which are the core of the Central Executive Committee. This time, the Central Committee discussed and issued regulations on the responsibility of setting an example for Party members in general, and strategic-level officials in particular, but it emphasized that first of all, it is the comrades of the Politburo, Secretariat, and Central Executive Committee. It can be said that a beautiful gesture can have an impact on the whole country and the whole Party,” said Mr. Nguyen Duc Ha.

Regarding the socio-economic development results achieved in 2018, cadres, party members and people highly appreciated and believed that they would contribute to the successful implementation of socio-economic development tasks and plans in the first half of the 12th term, creating new momentum and motivation, new spirit for the completion of the goals and tasks set for 2019 and the 5-year period of 2016 - 2020. However, it is necessary to continue promoting the results, achievements and experiences, lessons learned from the reality of innovation, strengthening the leadership of the Party, management of the State, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the entire political system.

Mr. Pham Xuan Hang - Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front said: "This time the Central Committee is determined to do it more deeply, more thoroughly, and more effectively. There must be more specific, practical, and stricter solutions to increase the trust of party members. If we continue to be cautious, with peace inside and outside, the Resolution issued this time will not bring results. We must be more resolute and more resolute."
