According to Reuters, US President Donald Trump said on October 9 that he will consider choosing Ms. Dina Powell - Goldman Sachs executive and former Deputy National Security Advisor - as US Ambassador to the United Nations, replacing Ms. Nikki Haley who will resign at the end of this year.
In addition, President Trump also denied rumors that he would appoint his daughter Ivanka to this position.
The above information was revealed by President Trump to the press at the White House before leaving to attend an event in Iowa, a few hours after he announced that Ambassador Haley would resign.
He said Ms. Haley would help him make the final choice on her replacement.
Ms. Powell served as deputy national security adviser for strategy during Mr. Trump's first year in office and was a key figure in diplomatic efforts in the Middle East.
She returned to Goldman Sachs - where she worked for more than a decade - earlier this year.
In addition, Ms. Powell was also an important figure in the US State Department during President George W. Bush's tenure.
