Nearly 10,000 Hung Nguyen residents join forces to do irrigation work
(Baonghean.vn) - Responding to the national irrigation day, on the morning of October 13, in Hung Tan commune, Hung Nguyen district, a ceremony was held to launch the national irrigation campaign.

On the first day of the campaign, nearly 10,000 people from 23 communes, towns, agencies, units and schools in the area participated; striving to dredge and clear over 300km of canals for irrigation and drainage in this campaign.
After the launching ceremony, thousands of students in the district wearing green volunteer shirts gathered at major irrigation canals in the district such as Le Xuan Dao canal, 12/9 canal, T18 canal, T20 canal... to dredge canals, collect duckweed, and clear the flow.
In the fields of Hung Tan, Hung Thang, Hung Phuc communes, many people also enthusiastically participated in repairing irrigation works, building banks, and maintaining damaged pumping station equipment.

Mr. Hoang Duc An - Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: After the launch, Hung Nguyen district will continue to mobilize all classes of people to regularly maintain the care and repair of irrigation works; Focus on dredging and clearing irrigation systems, arranging fields associated with land conversion, land consolidation, and effective construction of internal traffic.
In this year's campaign, the district directed the communes to have a plan to assign targets, locations, volume, and specific human resource arrangements, close to the actual situation. All levels must participate and must achieve the assigned targets, avoiding the situation of doing things in a formal way.

Hung Nguyen is one of the localities that is frequently affected by natural disasters, especially floods and inundation. Especially after the recent storm No. 3, thousands of hectares of rice and crops in the district were severely flooded. Therefore, irrigation work is always given special attention by the locality.
Over the past years, with the efforts of authorities at all levels and people, Hung Nguyen district has built 93 large and small pumping stations, over 600km of irrigation and drainage canals, built dikes to prevent floods, prevent inland flooding and effective irrigation water supply works.
