Russia: Recent election results show US, EU voters want government change
(Baonghean.vn)- On October 15, Chairman of the State Duma (Lower House) of Russia, Mr. Vyacheslav Volodin, said that the results of recent elections in Europe and the US show that voters there want a new government.
Speaking to the press, commenting on the results of the vote to elect a new legislative body in the state of Bavaria (Germany), Mr. Volodin emphasized: "Recent elections in the US and Europe demonstrate a widespread systemic change in voters' views towards politicians and parties that have been in power for a long time."

Regarding this issue, Mr. Volodin reiterated that no European head of state believed that Mr. Donald Trump could become US President at the time of the 2016 US election.
The Speaker of the Russian State Duma said: "Yesterday, the Christian Social Union (CSU), which has been in power in Bavaria since 1957, lost its absolute majority. Therefore, it is impossible for the CSU to form a government without a coalition. Meanwhile, parties that address the urgent needs of the people, such as immigration, unemployment, environmental protection, low-cost education and health care, are gaining more support.
The defeated Western elites cling to the hope that this is just a coincidence and not a trend. They cannot find a better explanation for their poor election results than accusing Russia of election interference.
"It is time for foreign politicians to apologize for their baseless accusations against Russia, after analyzing the recent election campaign in Europe," Mr. Volodin stressed.
Previously, on October 14, the CSU suffered its "most painful" defeat in the past 60 years in the Bavarian state election. Although it is still the strongest political force in the Bavarian state parliament, with 37.2% of the votes, the party lost its absolute majority in the state parliament.
This defeat is also considered a heavy blow to the CSU party leader and Chancellor Merkel - Chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), just two weeks before another important state parliamentary election in the state of Hessen.
Meanwhile, the Alternative for Germany (AfD), the country's far-right party, which advocates a hardline stance on immigration, entered the state parliament for the first time when it won 10.3% of the vote./.
